Stamps in the Mail Club

The stamp set this past month was Pennant Parade. We had so much fun making these samples:

In February we begin a new club and the stamp set for February is Bordering On Romance. Cost is $28 ($38 wood) and you receive a package in the mail with 3 cards made with this stamp set as well as the set and a little thank you from me!

Club info: This club is 8 months in duration and this time the cost is variable will keep it as close to $25 as possible. If you haven’t confirmed your membership, you’ll want to do so right away. The cut off deadline is February 14th-Valentines Day.

Designer Cuts—upgraded pics

My upline, Connie Heisey, asked me to demonstrate our fabulous laser-cut cards and show different ways to dress them up so here is what I came up with. Now, notice I said ‘our fabulous’. I did not know they were fabulous until I started playing with them. On this one, I just cut a piece of pool party to layer inside the heart, a touch of pool party seam binding and a saying in the same, one little pearl for accent!

I found an idea like this online at Flowerbug’s site, I spritzed some of the Pink Smooch spritz, then on the inside I cut a piece of Riding hood Red CS at 3 3/4” X 3 3/4” square. I put 1/2 pieces of dimensionals the whole way around the heart, then centered my piece of RHRed . My purpose was to get the cardstock to stay back from the cutouts so that you could get a shadow effect when you looked at it. I added our yummy Riding Hood Red pleated satin ribbon and a few pearls.

Then I showed how to do this design. I had some scraps of the silver glimmer paper (which is still available for purchase hallelujah!) so I cut some squares to cover the ‘diamond’ cut out pattern. I laid them face down on the inside of the pattern—put glue on the back of them. Then I placed my 2 1/2”X 5 1/2” Piece of Rich Razzleberry Cardstock on the bottom portion of the front so show through behind the glimmer paper. What fun!

Coloring Pearls:

What I really wanted to show you was something that I learned at Leadership and that was to color our pearls. I used the jumbo pearls from the mini just because I’m totally out of pearls! Yes, I had like 6 packs but shared some with a friend for a wedding. Okay, you just sponge regular ink onto the pearls while they’re still attached to the paper they come on. then you heat with a heat gun for a few minutes to set the ink, I did this 2 times to get a nice coverage! Isn’t it great?

And one more, I saw a similar idea online, which was also Flowerbug’s site. I loved the idea of weaving ribbon through the design. I once again used a piece of Blushing Bride CS 2 1/2” X5 1/2” but I only glued it near the top of the design so that it looks like its away from the design and once again you get that shadowy look through the die-cut. I hope you enjoyed this little showcase as much as I loved sharing it!

Oh, and just as I got home from the meeting and sharing these ideas with all my friends and fellow demos, I got this gorgeous card in the mail from Jill Olsen who is my upline—it was a congratulations for being in her top 30 for sales in December. I was so excited—I had to show it to you as well because she sp0nged her Silver Glimmer Cardstock with Blushing Bride Ink and “wow’ what a pop.

It’s amazing how creative you can feel using cards that are already die cut for you and how quick it is to end up with some beautiful, hand-stamped cards. Definitely for the creative gal who has little time. Here’s a list of the supplies I used to do all these cards. One of the choices for January was Established Elegance. I think this stamp set is so beautiful. Here are 3 of the designs I came up with for the club that went out with the orders the end of January (always with inspiration from someone elses beautiful creations!) and then a few that I touched up from other cards. I really got into the little jewelry tag punch and our little pins.

Elizabeth, my roommate and new friend…. We are having dinner at Casa Mia—a great Mexican restaurant at a great price (we actually had dinner here twice!). This night, we got to celebrate with Extreme Homemaker as they filmed a parade down the river for injured American Veterans. It was so beautiful and will be aired next Christmas. Liz, had to post this pic—sorry. Liz is from Canada and I caught her waving our American flag—grin! We had so much fun.

Prize Patrol Winners—we are all so jealous!

Lori Staley was the first one in our group to win a prize—congrats.

Lori was also a speaker at one of the classes and did a fabulous job teaching us about good customer care. Shelli was even in the room while she spoke.

Then it was Angela Ogelsby’s turn to win! Okay, so we’re still really jealous…..

……well not really, we’re very happy for you. Stampin’ Up! gave us such great gifts, just check them out:

the bag and portfolio were made of our fabric that is coming out in the new catalog in June, along with the stamp sets—images have been sprayed out to protect the innocent—oh, I mean because they are not available yet and I’m not allowed to show them on here—grin! on the right are 3 of our adorable make and takes, let me enlarge them for you. I love how we put 2 of the Fancy Favor bags together to create a little box (middle image) then belly-banded it! We used the little pop-out flowers from the Designer Printed Kit—page 18 of the mini. They are really nice, quick to use and layer so beautifully.

The paper is from Twitterpated set.

Using Early Espresso, Baja Breeze and Riding Hood Red along with the new Twitterpated DSP from the Occasions Mini Catalog. Also used the B0jo Blossoms punch, the new Blossom punch, the postage stamp punch. Baja Breeze Ribbon, glue dot with dazzling diamonds glitter in center of flower (I cut slits the whole way around the flower, toward center so that the petals curl up). Also used the Framed Tulips embossing folder.

Fun new idea! A maze game and a card in one. Won’t the kids on your list love it when they can play with their card? This is my first card with this set but some of you are much more creative than me and will come up with some cool things.

This Valentine Card was done with the SAB set, Outlined Occasions, stamped the love with Black ink, then colored with Pretty in Pink and Real Red Markers.

The embossed hearts are done with a new Occasions Mini item…Adorning Accents set of embossing borders.

The white piece is cut by the new Edgelits Dies called Adorning Accents. All on page 7 of the new Mini Catalog. Hearts were punched by 2 punches: Heart to Heart, and Small Heart punch, then I added Crystal Effects to make them shiny. The cording is the Early Espresso Baker’s Twine.

For this card, I cut some strips of Sale A Bration Designer Paper called Everyday Enchantment. I just began gluing them in a quilt pattern. Got the idea from Petal Pusher.

Had to tap it around a bit to get it to spread. These are still wet—not quite as shiny when they are dry.

Gift Card Ideas

Some of you have been asking about gift cards and I thought I’d go ahead and post a few ideas that we’ve done.

it's a 6X6 piece of designer paper—from Holly Berry Bouquet , I brought 2 opposite sides in and glued them together at the center---then rolled the seam to the side so that it wasn't in the center.

then I punched both narrow ends with the eyelet border punch and folded one end up to make the pocket where the tag is. Automatically there is a pocket in the top that you can put the gift card in as well.

We did this one at my November parties

Cut Early Espresso cardstock 5 X 6. Score at 1/2 and 4 1/2 on the 5 inch width. Then along the 6 inch side, score at 1 1/2 and 3 3/4. Cut out both corners and what you have remaining are the side tabs. I rounded all the edges and punched a ‘pull tab’ using the wide oval punch before gluing sides. Fold in side tabs, then fold up bottom and glue to tabs. I wrapped the quilted satin Early Espresso ribbon around the closed gift card , glued, then applied the little tag to the ribbon. The designer paper on the flap is from the Mocha Morning DSP set.

It’s like 3 1/2 inches wide by 8 1/2. Folded in half then fold the front flap down 1 1/2 inches. Then I just attached the front to back with 2 brads near the edge.

December Scrap Page

This is the page we did this month for our Christmas pictures. Stamped the snowflakes in Whisper White at the bottom corners of each page, extra snowflakes cut in white with the Northern Frost strip.

Ornaments made with the 3 1/2” circle die-edge sponged with Garden Green ink—topped with Round Tab punch.and some Garden Green grosgrain. The green checked design comes from the Frostwood Lodge DSP.

December Class Projects

I thought I’d get these projects published on here in case you all want to get some made for the holidays!

We designed this cute little box to hold more than just a gift card.

Cardstock is Garden Green and the Designer Paper is from Frostwood Lodge.

Ribbon is Cherry Cobbler Scalloped Polka Dot.

Outside piece 4 1/4 X 11 inches and is scored at 1 1/4, 1 3/4, 5, 6, 9 1/4, 9 3/4

Be sure to put the ends together and punch the large oval punch for handle before you glue the pouches in.

Inside pouches (2 of them) 5 1/2 X 3 3/4
Score 3 sides at 1/4 inch and 3/4 inch then cut out the 2 corners. Insert pouches inside at the 5 and 6 inch scoring marks making sure that the outside will fold well before glue dries. I use Tombow multipurpose liquid glue because it dries pretty fast. We sell this great product!

This cute little number originated as a swap at my meeting by Heather Forberger! I had to change the stamp cause I didn’t have the one she used.

This is an album that we got to make at a special event given us by our upline Connie Heisey.

Cover: 12X6 (scored at 5 7/8 and 6 1/8)

Inside, is this folded piece that is cut 10X10 and scored at 5 and 5.

With only a 5 inch cut on one side, the piece opens like this:

You see here why it needs one 5” slit—so that one part can fold independently of the whole piece.

Tye-Dye Glassware

Supplies Needed: Glassware from Dollar Tree, or glass ornament, tissue paper, about 3 colors of ink refill, alcohol, mod podge, sponge brush, heat gun.

Fold tissue into small, ‘football-shaped’ piece and tie with small rubber band.

Drip ink onto ends of ‘football’, one color for each of the 3 corners.

Then place about an ounce of alcohol in 3 small cups and drop several drops of one color of ink into each one. Then dip the coordinating end of the ‘football’ into it’s color of alcohol and then turn it up so that it drains to the center of the ‘football’. After the tissue paper is pretty saturated, lay it on something plastic and let it sit for 15-60 minutes (the longer it sits the more the colors will blend). I used my heat gun to dry it then as I tried to open up the paper (if it’s not dry, it will tear as you open it).

Now you’re ready to cut it to size and apply as directed below.

Colors for these: L: Garden Green, Elegant Eggplant, marina Mist; M: Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Basic Grey; R: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron

Application:

Apply Mod Podge to one side of glassware, then lay on your piece of tissue paper. Then fold it back and add Mod Podge to the next area, then lay paper over, repeat til you’ve covered the whole thing. Go around and press down making sure everything is glued in place. Let it sit upside down to dry or heat dry with heat tool. Once dry, add a coat of Mod Podge to the outside, you can add a second coat if you don’t think it’s even enough.

If you’re applying to something round like a Christmas ball, you may choose to tear off small pieces and glue them on as you go because it won’t be possible to put a whole flat piece on smoothly.

Christmas Gift Class in Review

Joyful Heart Christmas Dinner in Review

The Christmas Tree was decorated in Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry and had stockings made out of wool felt (one for each guest in attendance).

Here’s a close-up view of the stockings-thanks for the photo Sondra.

Everyone had a favor like this on the table with their name on. Sorry the pic is so blurry—so mad that I didn’t take a picture of them all together—they looked so pretty. The chocolate has the ‘very merry’ label on from the ‘It’s a Wrap Holiday” stamps. Box was made with the #2 Box die (cut from 8 1/2 X11 cardstock so it cuts off the top flap but I wasn’t planning to use the flap. I’ll try to get better pictures posted—comment if you’d like to have more info on this.

We started out with hors ‘d hoevres (spell check doesn’t know how to spell this either :) and then everyone got stamping their make and takes using all new products from the Occasions mini and the SAB mini catalog:

We had a great swap and I begged for a few left over crumbs since I didn’t have time to stamp a swap…here are a couple that I got:

I can’t forget to mention that we then did recognition and had dinner which my Mom and my In-laws and my girls helped me to make. I tried to keep everything home-grown or at least home-made!

Scrap Weekend

What a more appropriate time of year to start this outreach program. My friend and stamping customer, Ellen Adams, was recently diagnosed and treated for cancer. It was a very difficult experience for her and now that she feels better and is doing great, she is reaching out to others who are going through some of the same things that she did.

Project-“Give Thanks'’ is a card ministry for those affected by cancer. It will provide them with Thank You cards, Birthday cards or just blank cards that they can use to share their gratitude for the outpourings of love they receive during their illness.

Cards/envelopes, cards alone or card fronts will be accepted for this ministry.

I also used the Well Worn Designer Series Paper #122359 as well as the Happiest Birthday Hostess Stamp set—love it!

So, I got playing with this stamp set and I couldn’t stop! What fun!

I used our 3”circle Big Shot Die #122125and cut this circle of fabric from our Timeless Portrait Fabric #122337. The colors are Basic Black, Whisper White, and Lucky Limeade. I also use the leaf die #114511 for the accent. Buttons are Neutrals #119743. I stamped the zebra in Basic Black and then used my Aqua Painter to add more color to the stripes.

For the lion card, I just inked the lion in Tangerine Tango.

I sponged the edges of the embossed background piece with Early Espresso ink, then sponged with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint #116806, for this cool platinum look! The ribbon is Chantilly crochet trim #118480.

I love how this page turned out. I used the beautiful original design from a Convention Swap by Tiffany Cline, switched it up with some paper folding that Stampin’ Up! presented to us in the monthly demonstrator newsletter. Then I used this gorgeous stamp set, Creative Elements to come up with the final look. Hope you all enjoyed it that came to class!

How Low can we go? That is, how low can the price go on Snail refills? The more orders we have, the cheaper it will get.

I’m sure you are gearing up to make your holiday cards and projects and will need plenty of adhesive and that can get expensive so I thought I’d offer an alternative to buying that ‘cheap’ stuff at the big box stores.

Many of you who participated in my last sale have mentioned that you are getting low and some who missed the sale thinking that you’d never need 6 refills, are finding out that you are needing it and wish you had participated!

You may pick this order up at my house or a class or if you get some friends together and order a minimum of 40, I will ship them to you for FREE. Otherwise shipping will be based on First Class Mail cost of about $3 for 6 refills.

The cost of a snail refill is normally ($5.25) with s&h and tax.

When you place your order now for 6 or more, the price is starting at $4.60 each, but will continue to go down as orders come in so that your final price could be as low as $4.00 each. This will be the final price per refill (I am only charging you tax and that is included in this price).

Shaker Frames

My upline asked me to demo the new Shaker Frames #124155 (mini catalog) at her last meeting. Here are some ideas we came up with! Tash made this one with the stamp set Nature Walk.

Here is one that I designed last year but just added the shaker frame over top the ‘25’ on the card. This design was just embossed with Gold EP then sponged with Rose Red and Always Artichoke ink.

Colored Mica Flakes

For both these cards, we colored the mica flakes #124115 with just a drop or 2 of the color we wanted, then shook it in an empty container til the color was distributed.

then we did one with our new Gently Falling Set #123804.

Also used the new Early Espresso Quilted Satin Ribbon #124104

Half sheet of Cherry Cobbler for base of Card

2”X 5 1/4” of Garden Green cardstock run through the bigshot with the new Snow Burst Embossing Folder #124096 (mini catalog).

Wrap a 6 inch piece of our new Cherry Cobbler Satin Quilted Ribbon #124105 (mini catalog) around and glue to back of this piece before gluing this piece to the base card

Cut a 2” X 5 1/4” piece of the Plaid design from Frostwood Lodge DSP #124002 (mini catalog)

Punch a 2 3/8” scallop of the new Silver glimmer paper #124005 (mini catalog)

Stamp the house from Christmas Lodge Stamp set #123769 (mini catalog) in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White Cardstock and punch out with 1 3/4” circle punch. Glue this to the shimmer paper with glue dots

Assemble as shown

Add a little knot of the same ribbon at the top with a glue dot.

This card was cased from my upline Connie’s Founder’s Circle Swap. I changed it a bit so that I could make it my own. I love this embossing folder from the Holiday Mini #124096 Snow Burst. It has such depth!

I added the new Quilted Satin Ribbon in Cherry Cobbler #124105

A touch of ribbon and pearls completes this antique card. CS is Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler.

Snow Much Fun!

I got the idea for this card at convention. I’m sorry, I cannot remember the artist.

I stamped the snowman first then ran him through the Big Shot with the poinsettias embossing folder. I cut out about 6 ovals from cardboard and then laid them all together. Put the snowman image inside the embossing folder, lay the oval cutouts on top the folder but lining up so the snowman appears through the oval. Put texture impressions pad on top of the cutting mat….no cutting plates. There is a pocket in back of the image for a little book mark.

I apologize that I have not been very helpful this week. We started school here at our house and it just adds a tad to the workload! I’m glad that the children are very excited and they’re doing very well. We are still in the middle of finishing up some late canning so I’m headed to my Mom’s today to do salsa but I wanted to take a minute to put some new things up here that I’m so excited about.

Adorable Butterflies! We whipped out 22 of these babies last Friday to make these napkin holders for our Tea Party on Saturday. Not the napkins, I made them too just for an added touch.

This is what the pattern looks like by Deb Paisie. Can you see the score lines? They start across the center of the square from corner to corner then go up and down by 1/4” increments. It works like magic on our new Simply Scored by Stampin’ Up!

Post Convention Joyful Heart Stampers Breakfast

In case you were unable to join us on Saturday, I thought you’d like to see a little of what went on!

First we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Mountain Gate Restaurant! There were 35 of us present out of a group of 112 demonstrators from all over the country. I think that is incredible. Sheila Miller and her visiting friend Rhoda won a prize for coming the farthest—almost 4 hours I think!

Our theme this year is GROW so I made these flower pots with our Designer Series Paper strips to cover the pots, then the flowers were made by Marie and I with our New In Colors. Malachi Corrugated and Shredded more DSP for the grass and then I covered the little shovel and rake handles with dsp. A little lady bug inspired by my dear friend Bonnie, finishes off the flower arrangement. These were given to all the presenters—see below.

We enjoyed some fabulous card swapping! It was intense around there for a few minutes!

Our Presentors:

Angela Ogelsby: presented some ideas with the treat cups, candy wrapper die; Marie Gruber: some ideas with embossing satin ribbon on our embossing folders/with a little hairspray; Deb Paisie:some more ideas with extending the candy wrapper die, decorating with our punches, other candy ideas, a great cut-out sign for our entrance; and Sondra Jumper: lots of cute little gift ideas for hostesses, for favors and more. Thank you ladies for doing such a great job! I showed some ideas we learned using our punches—some out-of-the ordinary things (I will try to get a video made before the end of the week to show you what all we learned—don’t know how else to show everyone!) also, had to show our fabulous new Stampin’ Score –along with some of the features and benefits of this exciting new product.

I love how quickly and easily you can create something like this, that looks like it would be so difficult—no more measuring!

And last but not least, our Strength and Hope fundraiser stamp (only available yet this month) along with the flowers from Language of Friendship # 122752 punched with our Boho Blossoms punch. Colors are Pink Pirouette, Basic Grey and white. Butterfly embossed with white emboss powder. Grey marker to ink only the top of the word stamp—then repeated again.

New Embossing Folder

Thought I’d share a card that I came up with after I got my new order. This oval was done with the embossing folder, “Designer Frames”. It contains 2 shapes, this oval and a handsome rectangle. This card was so quick and easy. Oh, the colors are the new Island Indigo and Lucky Limeade. The smaller green flower is the center of the Lace Ribbon Border punch—I punched it out with the 3/4” circle punch. When I punched them all out, I ended up with this cool border on this baby card:

Our Theme this year at convention was GROW, so for opening night party, they suggested that we could wear garden hats. I saw some pretty amazing hats and thought you might like to see them. A lot of them were very creative using Stampin’ Up! products. Enjoy.

Stamping Fun

I apologize that these pictures are not great…my son dropped the lens to the camera and so it will not focus—I couldn’t get far enough away to get a great picture but with a little help from Picasa, hopefully you can see how much fun I’ve been having.

I also use 2 new In-Colors: Pool Party and Island Indigo, along with my Old Olive. The DSP is #122367 Paisley Petals

And I’m really bummed that you cannot see the fabulous new Pool Party Polka Dot Brad. I’m making 60 of these.

Tip: This is stamped on Watercolor paper, to get the effect, I had to mess with it alot. Finally figured it out—I spritzed lightly with a water bottle, had to make sure it was moist but that there was no water noticeable on the paper, then I inked the stamp with 2 ink spots (Old Olive, Island Indigo) then I had to huff on it good before stamping on the moist paper—the color pops if you get it right, it runs if you get too much and it is very light if you get too little. You may ask, “what’s the use” but I think the end product was worth the practice. Good Luck!

I plan to add the Island Indigo ribbon instead of the Victorian, as soon as it gets here.

Okay, I’m stuck on Island Indigo! It’s a gorgeous color.

And the bottom was done with this printing plate (it was a FREE gift from SU so I thought I’d try it).

Tip: I inked it up with Chocolate Chip Craft Ink—the ink spot—then laid my paper on top and ran it through the big shot. It’s slightly raised and printed very evenly—they all did—all 50 of them. Yes, this is a swap!

Now, several pics of cards Connie and I did for her meeting tonight using the Posy Punch Hostess stamp set.

I think it’s a lovely stamp set that coordinates with the Fancy Flower Punch. Quick and Easy!

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have participated either in the stamping event or by donating! We have raised over $400 with this event (that’s just the stamping part!).

I feel it’s been a terrific success and I just can’t thank you all enough. Well, I thought I’d post some more fun ideas, how’s that sound?

I think this card is just beautiful.

Tips: The green leaves are stamped on Whisper ‘White, then the pink flowers are embossed on a piece of vellum and layered over top. Isn’t it a stunning look? That’s the new melon mambo embossing powder.

Great way to use the Hello stamp from the mini catalog in a way that doesn’t have to say ‘hello’.

New In-colors

Love, Love, Love these new colors. This was one of our cruise projects.

Another cruise project: This Mini Photo album is made from 1 whole sheet of 12X12. It’s an amazing and tricky little thing. Here, let me show you how.

This is my design for a convention swap in a few weeks. I only have to make 10 of this 12X12 layout and I’m almost finished! Just have the pinwheels to make yet. You’ll probably see this layout in an upcoming scrap class! I received this gorgeous card (stamps from the new catalog) from Stampin’ Up’s Event Planning team to thank “me’ for going on the cruise that Stampin’ Up! gave us. Wow, how beautiful and totally random! Thank you Stampin’ Up! for all that you do for us.
